History & Staff

We have years of experience caring for families, from all walks of life. Each family comes to us because they know we are leaders in our profession, dedicated to excellence in service, and have the highest integrity.

Our History

Akard Funeral Home is a fourth generation family-owned, by David and Melinda Akard and their children, Bambi Akard and David W. Akard, III, and operated full service funeral home.

J.B. Akard started around the turn of the century in the funeral business, working out of a furniture store.  He had a vision of one day owning his own funeral home.  His son, David Weaver Akard, Sr., expanded on his vision to what is now the funeral home on State St., that is still owned and operated by the Akard Family.
