Dr. Glenn Hunter Birkitt Jr.

Dr. Glenn Hunter Birkitt, Jr., age 58, of Bristol, Tennessee died, Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Wellmont Hospice House, from complications of multiple myeloma. Glenn was born August 11, 1959, in Leesburg, Virginia, the eldest son of Glenn Hunter Birkitt, Sr., and Jo Ann Didawick Birkitt. He graduated from Loudoun County High School in1977, and attended Emory & Henry College, earning a BS in 1981. Glenn attended the Medical College of Virginia, graduating in 1985, and then moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for his surgical residency at West Penn Hospital, where he met his wife, Diane Mallett. Glenn was a general surgeon and a partner at Bristol Surgical Associates, PC; He was a member of the Board of Directors for the Bristol Regional Medical Center, and a Board of Trustee member for Emory and Henry College. Glenn is survived by his wife of 28 years, Diane Mallett-Birkitt; his children, Benjamin Gallagher Birkitt, of Hampton, Va. and Natie Birkitt, of New York City; his parents, Glenn and Jo Ann Birkitt, of Leesburg, Va.; his sister, and brother-in- law, Jodie and Curtis Bruguiere, of Afton, VA.; his sister and brother- in -law, Lara and James Dunlap, of Aldie, VA.; his brother and sister- in -law, Cary and Judi Birkitt, of Leesburg, VA.; his brother and sister- in- law, John Gustin and Marny Birkitt, of Bluemont, VA.; nephews and nieces Colin Bruguiere, of Richmond, VA.; Tucker Bruguiere, of Oahu, HI.; John, Anne and Amelia Dunlap, of Aldie, VA.; Hunter Birkitt, of Leesburg, VA.; and Virginia Birkitt, of Bluemont, VA.; Elizabeth Varner and Ryan Mallett, of St. Mary’s County MD.; parents- in- law Lloyd and Kay Mallett, of Columbus, OH ; sister’s- in- law and husband, Teresaand Patrick Dolan of Columbus, OH.; Laura Mallett, of Columbus, OH. and Denise Mallett, of St. Mary’s County, MD. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Monday, June 25, 2018 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father Eric Baffour Asamoah officiating. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. prior to the service.
