Jack S. Rutherford, age 81, of Bristol, VA went to be with the Lord, Wednesday, February 17, 2010 at Johnson City Medical Center.

He was native of Bristol, VA and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. He was a retired employee of Hobart Appliance. He was a member of Kingsway Baptist Church.

He was preceded by his wife, Elizabeth Trivett Rutherford; two brothers, J.B. Rutherford and Herman C. Rutherford and a sister Rema Walker.

Survivors include one daughter, Karen Finley and husband, Tom of Louisville, KY; two sons, Jack S. Rutherford, Jr. and wife, Scottie of Jonesborough, TN and Tim Rutherford and wife, Amanda of Bristol, VA; two sisters, Pauline Yates of Bristol, VA and Dota Lee Hunt of Tamarac, FL; one brother, Troy “T.R.” Rutherford, Jr. and wife, Joan of Bluff City, TN; three grandchildren, Sara Pollett and husband, Quentin of Louisville, KY; Scotty Rutherford of Kingsport, TN and Elizabeth Rutherford of Bristol, VA; one great-grandchild, Jack Pollett and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Friday, February 19, 2010 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Todd Freeman officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Saturday at Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Friday prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home.
