Helen Lucille Jones Hurt, age 91, of Bristol, TN passed away Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 31, 1918 to the Luther and Myrtle Jones in Bristol, TN, where she was a lifelong resident. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Jones and Lyle Jones. She graduated from King College and received a Masters Degree in Education from ETSU. She was a teacher in Bristol, TN School System for 32 years where she taught math at the junior high level.

She was a member of Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church where she played the organ for many years.

Survivors include one daughter, Judith F. Hurt of Clayton, GA; two sons, Dallas J. Hurt and wife, Dianna and James E. Hurt and wife, Patricia all of Bristol, TN; ten grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial may be sent to Virginia Ave. United Methodist Church, 1127 Virginia Ave., Bristol, TN 37620 or to a charity of one’s choice.

The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Virginia Avenue United Methodist Church with Rev. James Qxidine officiating. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be all of her prior students. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., Saturday prior to the service at Virginia Ave. United Methodist Church.
