J.W. Denton, age 79, of Bristol, VA went to be with the Lord Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center.

He was a caring husband, loving father and proud of his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Baxter and Virgie Cross Denton; one sister, Jessee Lynn Church and one brother, Billy Denton.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis June Bolling Denton; one daughter, Sandy Stout of Bristol, VA; two sons, Gary Denton and wife, Elizabeth and Michael Denton and wife, Vera, all of Bristol, VA; one sister, Aleene Terry and husband, Henry of Bristol, VA ; four grandchildren, Ronnie Stout, Jr. and wife, Christy; Krista Hackney and husband, Jay; Michelle Gardner and husband, David and Adam Denton and eight great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be sent to the St. Jude Childrens Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Friday, April 16, 2010 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Mizelle officiating. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon – 2:00 P.M., Friday prior to the service.
