Robert “Bob” Moore, age 75, of Abingdon, VA went to be with the Lord, Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Valley View Nursing Home, Chilhowie, VA.

He was the son of the late James Beecher and Effie Lee Barker Moore. Bob attended V.I. College and was a retired veteran of the U.S. Air Force with over 20 years of service. He was a retired employee of Line Power. He loved golf, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his brother, J.D. Moore and sister, Lucille Thompson.

Survivors include his wife, Betty L. Moore; two sons, Robert D. Moore and wife, Tonya of Bristol, VA and Ricky Wayne Moore of Abingdon, VA; one sister, Peggy Fleenor and husband, Frank of Benhams, VA; three brothers, Paul Moore and wife, Dorothy of Bristol, TN, Kenneth Moore and wife, Bonnie of Benhams, VA and Sonny Moore and wife, Phyllis of Murfreesboro, TN; three grandchildren, Latosha Meggenson, Alexis Calloway and Landon Quinn Moore and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Saturday, May 22, 2010 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Harless and Rev. David Harless officiating. The committal service and interment will be 1:00 P.M., Sunday in Pine Hill Cemetery, Benhams, VA with Military Rites conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Saturday prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home.
