Betty Viola Hensley, age 79, formerly of Bristol, VA, who had lived at Serenity Adult Care in Meadowview, VA since 2002, passed away Friday, June 11, 2010 at Wellmont Hospice House.

She was a special person who loved the Lord. She was a lifelong resident of Washington County, VA and had spent the last eight years at Serenity Adult Care where she attended Fellowship Baptist Church, in Meadowview, VA.

Viola was the daughter of Maynard and Jeannie Hensley. She was preceded in death by her five brothers Edward, Bobby, Frank, James, and David Hensley; and three sisters Dorothy Rodefer, Leona Dinkins and Gertrude Myers.

Survivors include one brother Herbert Hensley and wife, Dorothy Vanhook Hensley of Bristol, VA and numerous nieces and nephews.

Those desiring may make memorial donations to the Malone Cemetery Association in care of Herbert Hensley 19335 Campground Road, Bristol, VA 24202.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 P.M., Sunday, June 13, 2010 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Chad Johnson officiating. The committal service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Monday, June 14, 2010 in Malone Cemetery, Bristol, VA. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:45 P.M., Sunday, prior to the service at Akard Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Junior Hensley, Steven Hensley, Adam Barker, Danny Hensley, Gordon Barker, Gary Hensley, and Mark Hensley.
