William RIchard (Dick) Lewis
William Richard (Dick) Lewis, formerly of Bristol, TN, died of a heart attack on September 17, 2009 in Myrtle Beach, SC. Dick was 68. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Sue Lewis formerly of Holston Valley, his daughter Robin Annette Lewis of Frederick, MD, his son William Richard (Rick) Lewis, Jr. Rick’s wife Tricia and granddaughter Alyssa Lewis of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by brothers Harry Martin Lewis of Fredericksburg, VA and Dr. Joseph Thomas (Tom) Lewis of Sammamish, WA.
From the age of 8 until after college, Dick and his family lived in a TVA log cabin just below South Holston Dam. Dick was a 1959 graduate of Holston Valley High School where he played basketball and baseball for Coach Harmon Peters. He also attended King College for three years where he played basketball... After college Dick worked for the Household Corporation for 33 years and retired at age 55 as Executive Vice President of the Household Bank in Baltimore, MD. During his financial and banking career Dick lived in North Carolina, Pennsylvania Colorado, and Maryland. Dick enjoyed playing a number of sports (baseball, basketball and tennis) and also enjoyed coaching youth sports. As an adult Dick was an outstanding golfer with a near zero handicap. Upon retirement Dick bought a house on a golf course in the Myrtle Beach, SC area and lived there until his death. Dick competed in many golf tournaments over his lifetime and won “his share” of them while making many friends wherever he played. At the time of his death the funeral services were private.

Dick is sorely missed by his family and friends. Dick’s family will receive friends in conjunction with the Celebration of Life for Dick’s Mom Mabel W. Lewis at Akard’s Funeral Home in Bristol, TN on Friday June 25, 2010 from 6 to 8 PM..
