Mary Virginia Ramsey, age 94, of Appalachian Christian Village, Johnson City, TN passed away Sunday, June 20, 2010 at Johnson City Medical Center.

She was a native of Washington County, VA, the daughter to the late Charles and Cecelia Ramsey.

She was also preceded in death by a sister, Margie Thomas of Bristol, VA and a brother, Ernest (Pete) Ramsey of Marion, VA.

She retired from Emory and Henry College Library and is a member of Glade Spring Presbyterian Church. She attended the Royal Women Sunday School Class and Bible Study Group. She volunteered at Emanuel School of Religion, Northside Hospital and Appalachian Christian Village.

Survivors included two nephews, Bob Ramsey and wife, Carolyn of Marion, VA and Ed Ramsey and wife, Irma of Greenwood, SC; one niece, Nancy Bales and husband, Dan of Woodstock, GA and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of Appalachian Christian Village for their care and compassion for the last 25 years.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 23, 2010 in Cleveland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Abingdon, VA with Rev. Bill Graybeal officiating. There will be no formal visitation at the funeral home.
