Grace Martin Morrell

Mrs. Grace Martin Morrell, age 98, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother formerly of Crossway Road, Bristol, VA, went to be with her Lord, on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at N. H. C. of Bristol.

Mrs. Morrell was a lifelong resident of Bristol, having attended Wallace High School. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Maude Myers Martin. She was preceded in death by her husband James E. (Jim) Morrell, four sisters and four brothers. She was secretary for the family business, Appalachian Welding Company. Mrs. Morrell was known by her many friends, for her gracious sharing of delicious home cooking. In her later years, Mrs. Morrell attended Trinity United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her daughter Joan Littleford and husband Gordon of Bristol, VA.; one son, William E. Morrell and wife Frieda of Bluff City, TN; one sister, Dorothy Trivett of Bristol, VA. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Vickie Lynn Large and husband Bryan, Karen Self and husband Bryan, Sherri Monroe, Gary Lee Morrell and wife Jayne, Tim Morrell and wife Rita, Teresa Cross and husband Ben; ten great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their loving appreciation to Dr. Fred Greear, his staff, Dr. James Schrenker, and all employees of N.H.C. of Bristol, who were part of her extended family.

The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Albert Bentley officiating. Committal services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 14, 2010 in Mountain View Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Hall. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M., Tuesday, July 13, 2010, prior to the service.
