Grace Jessee Fleenor

Grace Jessee Fleenor passed away on December 17, 2012, at the age of 91 from natural causes. At the time of her death she resided in Wesley Village in Wilmore, Kentucky.

She was born on September 7, 1921, in Castlewood, Virginia to Tivis John Jessee and Louisa Barton Jessee and was raised in the Copper Creek area of Russell County Virginia. She grew up in a loving family with five sisters and four brothers. She attended and graduated from a one room school in Castlewood and then attended Bristol Commercial College. After Bristol Commercial College she worked for the Virginia Forest Service.

In January of 1949, she married William W. Fleenor of Bristol. They lived briefly in Houston, Texas, in the early 1950’s before returning to the Bristol area. She was a homemaker and worked as a bookkeeper in her husband’s accounting office after her two children were grown. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bristol, Tennessee.

She was predeceased by her mother and father, her husband Bill and seven of her brothers and sisters, Anna Jessee, Dove Todd, David Jessee, Eula Smith, Bill Jessee, Dora Golden, Ernest Jessee.

She is survived by her brother Tivis Howard Jessee, her sister Virgie Richardson, her sons William C. Fleenor and David E. Fleenor, daughters-in law Sandy Fleenor and Elizabeth Fleenor, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family would ask for donations either to Wesley Village, 1125 Lexington Rd., Wilmore, KY 40390 or the Alzheimer’s Association, 4825 Trousdale Dr., Suite 220, Nashville, TN 37220.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 21, 2012 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe-d Dowling-Soka officiating. The committal service will follow in Glenwood Cemetery Mausoleum with burial in Glenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:00 A.M., Friday prior to the service at First United Methodist Church.
