Agnes L. Rachel, age 92, of Bristol, VA, passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at her residence. She was a former employee of Helms Candy Company and was a member of North Bristol Baptist Church. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy M. Rachel, Jr and several brothers and sisters. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara R. Smith of Bristol, VA, Nancy R. Arnold and husband, Rusty of Bristol, VA, Vickie Lynn Shupe and husband, Rick of Dallas, TX.; sister, Hazel Curtis of Fla.; grandchildren, Whitney Hicks, Derrick Arnold, Makenzie Shupe and Tiffany Parker; great-grandchildren: Justin Hicks, Lindsey Doss, Josh Arnold, Brandon Arnold, Brodee Arnold, Marley Arnold, Thomas Parker, and Tyler Parker; great-great-grandchildren, Stephen Doss, Cali Doss, Kaleigh Hicks; special niece, Violet Lane Kilby and several other nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, May 27, 2016 in Mountain View Cemetery with Rev. Scott Price officiating. Special music by Danny Hill. The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers, Shelby Osborne, Angie Alford, Tommy Joe and Gina and all of the staff at Caris Healthcare. Family of Agnes Rachel, My grandmother lived across the street from Roy & Agnes, Anna Shipley. I remember going to see Agnes with my mom & dad, Mack & Doris Shipley. Recently going thru an old box of pictures, I found a few pictures of my mom & dad with Roy & Agnes. In many years past, your mom & dad would go to Florida with my mom & dad, that was about 52 - 53 years ago. I wanted to send you a note of what I remembered about your mom. She was always so sweet. Sorry for the loss of your mother. She and your father were great people. I will never forget some of the lessons I learned in Sunday School from your father. Take heart that there is no doubt but what they are both in Heaven now and together once again.

Dear Barbara, Nancy, Vicky and family,
