Betty Jean Young Williams of Bristol, Virginia, age 92, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 29, 2017. Betty was a graduate of Virginia High School and also attended the University of Virginia. She studied voice under the late Fredrick Martin. She shared her loving and caring spirit by serving in the American National Red Cross Nursing Corp during WWII. She was a nurse and bookkeeper for the late Dr. Nathaniel J. Chew for over 20 years. Over the years she volunteered countless hours as a nurse’s aid for the Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was also a very talented seamstress. Betty is survived by her husband of 71 years, Robert Williams; daughter, Terry Klepper of Kingsport, TN; son, Bobby Williams and wife, Lois of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters, Ann LaMon and Linda Draper of Bristol, VA; sister-in-law, Joanne Young of Hendersonville, TN; granddaughters, Michelle Hughes of Kingsport, TN, Christy Potter and husband, Kyle of Lexington, KY; Christopher Klepper of Bristol, VA, and Heather Klepper of Kingsport, TN; great-grandchildren, Brandon Arnold and wife, Char-Leigh of Pippia Pass, KY, Joshua Arnold of Lexington, KY, Todd Neely , Aric Neely, Gavin Potter and Emma Potter all of Lexington, KY; she is also survived by special friend, Anne Williams , many nieces and nephews and her special canine companion Megan. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 Monday, July 31, 2017 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Price of Fellowship Chapel officiating. The family will receive friends 6:30 – 7:30 pm prior to the service. When I was 4 I was sorta like Dennis the Mennis and lived with my mom next door in those appartments. Mom would cook and afterwards I would sneak over to Betty and Roberts to catch a second meal. Bobby and Terri and Betty where friends most of my life. I am deeply sorry about your mom even if I am few years late please forgive me. I live in farmland of central South Carolina and don't get much imformation here from anybody.
My most heartfelt sympathy to each of the family members of Mrs. Williams. I remember passing by her house and looking in the parking place to see who was visiting, hoping to see Terry.
