Burchfield Bullock, 95, a WWII veteran, passed away at his home on Veteran’s Day, November 11, 2021. Burch was a pharmacist (‘Ole Miss graduate 1951) and owner of Bullock’s Drug for 35 years. An entrepreneur at heart, he didn’t just retire. When he sold the drug store, he kept the gift shop business and expanded to include antiques. When he closed that business, he obtained his real estate license. At age 81, he became what was then the oldest kidney transplant recipient in Tennessee. On his final retirement, he continued to learn, enrolling at King University. He enjoyed discussions of philosophy with his younger classmates and took his last class there at age 94. Burch is preceded in death by his wife, Wayne Sanders Bullock, and siblings Polly Heatherly and Edna Engle. He is survived by siblings Jess Bullock and Faye Finley and husband Jim, his three sons Brian and wife Cindy, Blair and Brad, and grandchildren Allix Bullock Reeder and husband Andrew, Kimberly Bullock Neal and husband Sam, Matthew Bullock and wife Callie, Blake Bullock, Brooke Bullock and special friends M.C. Bullock and K.D. Forsha. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 am, Saturday, November 20 at First Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 10 am – 11 am at First Presbyterian Church. Lunch will follow the service. Burial will be at 2:00 pm Gunnings Cemetery in Blountville with Military honors provided by the DAV #40 Veterans Honor Guard and Shaw Air Force Base Honor Guard.
