Charles Lindy Canter

Charles L. Canter, age 94, of Bristol, VA passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at the Waters of Bristol. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. He retired from Valleydale after 20+ years of service. He was a member of Clear Branch Baptist Church. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Lavalette Brummett Canter and brothers, Leroy, William and Calvin Canter. Survivors include his wife, Betty Goodson Canter; sons, Michael (Charlotte) Canter, David (Yulonda) Canter and Stephen (Melissa) Canter; grandchildren, Jason Canter, Jacob (Beth) Canter, Jessica (Nick) McGlothlin, and Sarah (Cody) Jessee and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 3, 2023 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Harless and Rev. Travis Fletcher officiating. The graveside service will follow in Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum with military honors provided by the DAV #39 Honor Guard with Rev. Lyons Smith officiating. Pallbearers will be Jason Canter, Jacob Canter, Cody Jessee, Nick McGlothlin, Kenneth Bowman, Larry Reynolds, Tom Bullock, Brent Pope, and Joey Pope. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon – 2:00 P.M., Wednesday prior to the service.
