Claire Settoon Miller died peacefully in Ballard Health Hospital on September 6, 2018 in Bristol, TN at 8:00 pm. She was 76 years old and grew up in New Orleans. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, George W. Miller III, their daughter Lauren Claire, and her husband, Bryon Simora and their two wonderful children, Georgia Claire and Ryon Felix. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Settoon ( Margaret Orr) of New Orleans and a nephew, Thomas McEachin (Kerry) also of New Orleans., Claire was born in Lake Charles during WWII but moved to Franklinton, LA and then New Orleans where she grew up and was graduated by LSU. She and George married after graduation and she taught school in Arabi, LA and then in Auburn, AL and Lima, Ohio. They moved to Lima, OH where their daughter Lauren Claire was born. Claire put up a very brave fight against multiple sclerosis for at the last 35 years. She refused to let the disease keep her down and lived an active life until the last year or so. She was a devout Episcopalian and was active in the church wherever they lived. Claire has been cremated and there will be a service at Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Bristol on September 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm. So sorry to hear about the loss of this very sweet lady. I had the pleasure of coming to know Claire many years ago when I pet sit for her and her little “Scarlett”. So wish I had kept in touch with her over the years, but enjoyed the time I spent with her.
