Creed William Dye

May 4, 1922 - June 12, 2018

Creed William Dye, age 96, of Mendota, VA passed away on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at N.H.C. Healthcare of Bristol. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, retired as a tool and dye maker from Raytheon and a farmer. Creed was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church for over 81 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington and Minnie Foglesong Dye; his wife of 62 years, Faye Tate Dye; brothers and sisters, Charlie Dye, Jewel Osborne, Ruby Cunningham, Charmie Gillenwater, Edna Hill, Robert Dye, Curtis Dye, Mollie Dye, Bertha Smiley, Lillie Sproles, Stella Dye, Willard Dye, Roby Dye and Claude Dye. Survivors include several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family would like to give a special thank you to the many friends for their help and to the doctors who helped care for Creed. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 15, 2018 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Young officiating. The committal service and interment will be conducted at 1:00 P.M., Saturday at Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Joe Fleenor, Reece Fleenor, Tommy Fleenor, Bubby Pippin, Harold Fleenor, Sammy Fleenor, Frank Fleenor and Scott Brewer. The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M., Friday, prior to the service.
