Glen Lincoln Mikeal, age 75 of Bristol, Tennessee went to be with the Lord June 1, 2017 following a brief illness. Along with his parents William Todd and Lena Rhymer Mikeal of Bristol, VA he was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Cooper also of Bristol, Va; grandparents, John E. and wife Barbara Holden Rhymer of Bristol, TN, Mumfred Sidney and wife Della Cordelia Thomas Mikeal also of Bristol, TN. Glen was born in Bristol, TN. and graduated from Virginia High School Bristol, VA. He served four years in the Military stationed at Shepard Air Force Base in Wichita Falls, Texas. He was also an employee of Sperry Univac. Glen married the love his life Shirley “Shirl” Ellen Keesee Arend Mikeal and together they founded and owned Shirl’s Macramé’ and Craft located in Bristol, TN, Cranberry Lane located in Bristol, VA, Kingsport, TN and Sevierville, TN. They sold their businesses when they retired. Glen had such a sweet spirit. He loved the Lord and showed this in his daily life. He loved to whistle, sing and made all people around him feel very important. He never met a stranger. He is survived by his wife Shirley “Shirl” Keesee Arend Mikeal; step-daughter, Karen Elaine Arend of Bristol, TN; step –sons, Rick Arend of Bristol, TN and Rob Arend of Chandler, AZ; granddaughters, Sarah Ogletree of West Jefferson, NC, Kayla Arend of Rogersville, TN, Fallon Johnson of Piney Flats, TN; step-grandson, Caylub Gunner Arend of Bristol, TN and five step-great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Tim Cooper of Bristol, VA; sisters-in-law, Donna Keese and wife Melanie West of DeLand, FL, Judy Kessee Brownlee and husband Barry of Knoxville, TN; brothers-in-law, Cliff Keesee and wife Dot of Bluff City, TN, Dale Keesee and wife Liz of Gray, TN, Jim Keesee and wife Martha of Abingdon, VA. Several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Monica Gutlier, Karen Hester of Bristol, VA and Nancy Henson of Bluff City, TN. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 pm, Sunday, June 4, 2017 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 pm prior to the service. The committal and entombment will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, June 5, 2017 in Mountain View Cemetery with military rites conducted by Shaw Air Force Base and DAV # 40.
