Graham Gene Hunsucker

March 27, 1932 - October 12, 2017

Graham Gene Hunsucker, 85, went to be with the Lord, early Thursday morning, October 12, 2017, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. Graham was a lifelong resident of Bristol and an active member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. Graham was preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Joan Leonard Hunsucker. He was also preceded in death by his father, Justin Hunsucker; mother, Mattie Lee Ringley Hunsucker and sisters Freda Barb and Genelle McNamara. Survivors include his children: LeeAnn (Bill) Moore, Bristol, VA; Judy (Tim) Largen, Roanoke VA; Randall (Jill) Hunsucker, Bristol, VA. He leaves behind five grandchildren: Adam Moore, Bristol, VA; Thomas (Angela) Moore, Raleigh NC, Andy Moore, Raleigh NC, Justin Hunsucker, Bristol, VA and Kelsey (Alan) Rhodes, Honolulu, HI. He also is survived by his great-grandchildren Madelyn Nicole Moore, Bristol, VA; Ava and Aniston Moore, Raleigh, NC. Also surviving are his sisters-in-law: Barbara (Clay) Cochran, Nashville, TN; Jackie Leonard, Bristol, VA; Margie Leonard, Bristol VA and several nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly. Also surviving is his special friend, Peggy Peters. Graham was proud of his large family and enjoyed every opportunity to gather at his home. In his last few months, he has especially enjoyed golf cart rides with his grandson and buddy, Justin. Graham was most proud that he served his country in the Korean War and he wore his Veteran’s cap most everywhere he went. It is difficult for us as a family to put into words how much we appreciate the loving care Dad has received in the past few months by the staff at Wellmont Cancer Institute, Dr. Vicki Morgan, Dr. Ella Meade and Kelley Mayden, NP and all of the angels that work with them. Dad loved all of you. We also love and appreciate Dr. John Greene as a long-time friend and physician as well as Dr. Tom Makres. Dad made new friends, which quickly became family, when he met Kim Hilliard, Vickie Taylor and Lauren Jordan. Their love, care and compassion were beyond measure. The funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M., Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Euclid Avenue Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Roberts and Rev. Alan Moor officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:30pm. Entombment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be: Adam Moore, Thomas Moore, Andy Moore, Justin Hunsucker, Roger Leonard, Russell Leonard and Chris Cochran. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Barb, Rick Barb, Ronald McNamara, Lawrence Leonard and the staff of Empire Ford.
