Jerry Necessary Ivey, born on February 19, 1946, in Bristol, VA, to the late Lucille Cowden Necessary and Orville Necessary, passed away at the age of 77 on October 9, 2023. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Ivey, III.Jerry Ivey was married to her loving spouse William Ivey, III. Together, they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two children, William Ivey, IV and Andrew M. Ivey and wife Melissa. Family meant everything to Jerry, and she cherished being a parent. She took immense pride in her role as a grandparent as well, doting on her four grandchildren: William Ivey, V, Benjamin Ivey, Cameron Ivey, and Woodrow Ivey. She is also survived by her stepbrother, Eddie Necessary and wife Joanne; niece, Joy Necessary; her church family, Slater Center family, and Virginia High School family.Jerry pursued higher education at the Medical College of Virginia where she received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy. Her dedication and passion for helping others led her to excel in her field. Jerry's compassionate care touched the lives of countless patients throughout her career.In matters of faith, Jerry was a devout Methodist and found solace in worshiping at Three Springs United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the community and held deep bonds with fellow parishioners.The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Harriet Bible, Sonia North, Amy Caines and special buddy, David Roark.Those who wish to pay their respects are invited to attend the visitation at Akard Funeral Home on October 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Roy Hull and Rev. Terry Fleenor officiating. The graveside service will be held in Mountain View Cemetery immediately following the service.Jerry Ivey will always be remembered for her kind heart and unwavering love for family and friends. Her legacy lives on through the lives she touched and the memories she created. May she rest in eternal peace.
