Kathryn Misko Clendenen

Kathryn Misko Clendenen, age 92, of Bristol, VA passed away Sunday, February 15, 2015 at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. She was of Indiana County, PA and a resident of Bristol, VA since June 1986 where she was a member of Reynolds Memorial United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Passavant Hospital Nursing School, Pittsburgh, PA; where she received her Registered Nursing Degree. Mrs. Clendenen received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Education from Medical College of Virginia and her Masters of Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Counselor Education. Mrs. Clendenen served in the United States Navy Nurse Corps, where she met and married William Clendenen. She worked as a public health nurse in Virginia and Pennsylvania for a short time. She served as a school nurse in United School District in Armagh, PA for twenty-five years. She is the widow of William Clendenen. Survivors include her two sons, Dr. William Clendenen and wife, Patricia of Salisbury, MD and James Robert Clendenen and wife, Tara of Morgantown, WV; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M., Friday, February 20, 2015 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Laura Plaster officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M., Friday prior to the service.
