Lucille Eggers Carr Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lucille Eggers Carr, 96, departed this life on June 13, 2022. She joins in Heaven her beloved husband, Aulden W. Carr. She was born in Butler, Tn., the daughter of the late Jobe Eggers, Sr., and Bertha Clarke Eggers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her five brothers Edward “Bus” Eggers, Bob Eggers, Doran Eggers, Charles Eggers, and Lane Eggers; and her four sisters Alma Eggers, Hope Miller, Geraldine Brewer, and twin sister Louise Potter. She is survived by her sister-in-law Billie Eggers. She was born into a large family and then married into a large family. She enjoyed being “Aunt Lucy” and was very proud of the fact that she helped take care of “all those babies!” The last baby in her life was a little fur baby named Flossie. A special thank you to nieces Janice Potter Gentry of Abington, Va., and Brenda Eggers Smith (Ivan) of Bluff City, Tn. They were like daughters to Lucy and faithfully cared for her until the end of her life. She married the love of her life, Aulden Carr, in 1956, and together they happily raised his three children: Charles Allen Carr (Joy) of Winston-Salem, NC; Janice Carr Grant (Gary) of Knoxville, TN and Cathy Carr Rainey (Richard) of Abingdon, VA. She was very proud to be a grandmother to six and great-grandmother to eight. Lucy served by Aulden’s side as he ministered at Bunker Hill Christian Church, Bluff City Christian Church, and Aulden’s home church, Blountville Christian Church. They were blessed with wonderful friendships at all three churches. After Aulden’s parting, Lucy continued a life of service for many years as a volunteer at Bristol Memorial Hospital. Her beauty and sense of humor was appreciated by all who knew her. There will be a family graveside service at Gunning’s Cemetery on June 16 at 1:00 with her longtime minister and friend Dwight Shaffer officiating. A special thanks to the wonderful staff at the Rehab Center and Memory Care at Bristol for their loving care and kindness.
