Lula Kathryn Bowman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Lula Kathryn Bowman, age 99, of Bristol, VA passed away Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Lula was a stay at home homemaker. She loved her family and loved doing special things for them. Along with her parents, Epperson Hillary Bowman and Mary Minnie Statzer Bowman she was preceded in death by sisters, Dola May Bowman, Almeda Light, Isabel Bowman, Lila Worley; brothers, Roland Gordon “Buck” Bowman, Woodrow “Jack” Bowman, Carl Bunton Bowman, James Calvin Bowman and niece, Shirley Arnold. She is survived by her brother, Clarence Bowman; special nieces, Peggy Wooten Riley and husband, James John, Debbie Gentry and husband, James Isaac; nephew-in-law, James Hobert Arnold. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, August 11, 2016 in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Todd Crusenberry officiating. The family will receive friends 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. The interment and committal will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Honorary Pallbearers will be James John Riley, James Hobert Arnold, James Isaac Gentry, Roger Roe and Jackie Hall. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Abingdon Manor, Mountain State Hospice and Johnston Memorial Hospital, especially those on the 3rd and 2nd floor.
