Nancy June Ball Booher Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Nancy June Ball Booher, 78, answered the call of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, on October 24, 2021. A WWII baby, Nancy was born to Lawrence and Vena Ball on July 8, 1943 in Blountville, TN. Making Bristol their home, Nancy graduated from Tennessee High School in 1961. In 1960 volunteering at a YWCA dance, Nancy met her true love and was married in 1961. Following marriage, she chose to devote her life to her family serving as an American Red Cross school nurse, girl scout troop leader, softball and cheerleading coach as well as organizing and transporting Central High School band equipment and designing and fabricating props for band competitions. She was an active member of West Hills Baptist Church as a servant leader to church functions and local mission outreach. Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 60 years, Loodie Booher; two daughters, Tina (Brian) Elam of Siloam, NC and Whitney (Greg) Whitaker of Bluff City, TN; one granddaughter, Lauren Parsons of Portland, OR; one grandson, Ryan Whitaker of Chattanooga, TN; grandpuppy, Sherman; brother-in-law, Darrell and Luann Booher of Nashua, NH; sister-in-law, Barbara Booher of Roanoke, VA and several nieces & nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 7:00 P.M., Thursday, October 28 in the Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Hall officiating. The Committal service and interment will be conducted at 12:00 Noon, Friday in Glenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Whitaker, Marty Greene, Jeff Greene, Barry Mann, Doug Combs and Fred Taylor. Honorary pallbearers will be West Hills Baptist Church Deacon Board. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm, Thursday, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the Haven of Rest, Bristol, 624 6th Street, Bristol, TN 37620; Second Harvest Food Bank, 1020 Jericho Dr., Kingsport, TN 37663 or the West Hills Baptist Church Mission Fund, 1769 Highway 11W., Bristol, TN 37620.
