Samuel Harrison Cox Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Samuel Harrison Cox, age 66, of Bristol, TN passed away Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of the Bristol area and the son of the late Noah Winton and Pearl Pauline Roark Cox. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda Sands Cox; brothers, Johnny Cox and Bill Cox. He was a former employee of Raytheon and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Vietnam War. Samuel was a member of Landmark Missionary Baptist Church He is survived by his daughter, Elaine Kennedy Pyatte and husband, Randy of Pelzer, South Carolina; sons, Steven Samuel Cox and wife, Anne of Blountville, TN and Derek Allen Cox and wife, Catherine of Bristol, TN; sisters, Jeweldeen Marie Reed and husband, Bob of Mountain City, TN, Nettie Pauline Norris of Bristol, TN, and Gloria Gerelene Cox of Bristol, TN; grandchildren, Mariah, Clay and Cole Kennedy and Davis Pyatte ;several nieces and nephews. The visitation with the family will be 1:00 – 3:00 pm, Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Akard Funeral Home. The funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm, Monday, January 9, 2017 at Eastern Heights Cemetery, 431 Old Jonesboro Rd, Bristol, TN with Rev. Gary Rowlette officiating..
